Back! Sorta!

Whew! Where to start? There's so much I ain't writing it all here right now.

Some of the bigger news: my computer got fried or at least some part of it did. Big wind storm here before Thanksgiving and it knocked out the power. It also knocked over a transformer right by my house. The power came back on literally as I was driving to my house. It was kinda neat seeing the area light up. But the cops had the area around my house blocked off because the transformer was lying across the road - although by the time I got home pretty much things were cleaned up. So it took an extra 30 minutes to get home because the transformer melted the tar on the road and nobody was allowed to pass. So I had to drive around tring to find another way home.

So, I've been computerless since. I've been able to do some stuff on my parent's computer which has helped. My brother literally JUST moved in with me. I pestered him to set up his computer and here we are. So shortly, I will be buying a new PC which kinda sucks because I just bought mine this past Janurary and dropped $800+ on it. Sigh. Oh, well.

That's all the writing for now but there's quite a bit more to come - eventually.

Just some more... things

My brother has signed a purchasing agreement and apparently has to be out of the house by Thanksgiving. This seems good news all around as he will save money and I will get money! LOL! Still, I can't helping wondering in what way his ex will try to fuck things up.

His daughter now swears at him dropping f-bombs in her comments to him. It's really sad. I just can't believe that she has been so mindwashed as to willing turn against the parent that was always there for her. I guess it seems like a great thing when you're 11 and one parent doesn't have any rules or tries to teach any while my brother gets stuck being the bad guy by trying to teach my niece how to succeed in life. She's going to have a shitty life. At least my brother's lawyer is supposedily trying to force the girl into counselling after hearing that she told her father to 'f-off'.

I baked my first cake the other day. It was quite easy: pre-made cake mix, oil, eggs, water and a pan but it's very tasty and I've already eaten half of it. I have to disconnect my smoke alarms every time I use the oven because so far, it's gone off every time I've used the oven. Sigh.

I start my last week at work tomorrow. Again, I don't expect to be called back :(

Strangely enough, on my (and 8 of my co-workers) last day the company is having its annual United Way fund raiser. I wonder how much money United Way will make. I plan at most, to spend $10 and probably not even that.

I shoved just about all of the dirt back on to the septic tank today. My brother left if pretty half-ass and I didn't want the thing freezing up on me. Not sure how much dirt I shovelled but it seemed like sevral hundred pounds.

I think I beat my opponent in Fantasy Football today. We were each 6-3 going into today's action. My team is doing decently but ALL his offensive players seem to be having an off day today.

I finished reading Frankenstein today. I found the book while packing and read it over the past couple of days. It was a good read. However, I grew up on the movies and as a child the monster was always about tops on my list of neat creatures. Way better than vampires. So the old Universal movies are 'my version' of Frankenstein is.

Got my first mortgage payment note today. And so it begins - paying off an $82,000 debt.

Despondent things

Kinda despondent as I write this. I was just informed today that I'll be losing my job. Rather sucks since I just bought a house last month. I was one of 9 to get the axe. My last day is next week. I work - for now - at Strathmore artist papers. If you draw, you probably know them. Anyways, they are laying people off indefinately. I don't expect to be rehired. I'm not sure what the owners of Strathmore (Mohawk Papers) is doing but it has the remaining employees scared and rattled. Mohawk is is doing everything it can to save money. They only turned the heat on this month so for a good chunk of October it was literally under 60 degrees in the facility. They have told purchasing not to order anything unless it is absolutely neccessary. Part of my job there was as a material handler and in the last 2 weeks, I've had to tell my group leader 5 or 6 times that we did not have the cartons availiable to box up the finished products.

Fortunately for me, I plan ahead. I expect my first mortgage payment later this month and the amount is already in my checking account. I wanted it in there in case something shitty (like this) happened. With the paycheck I got today, December's mortgage payment is also all set too.

Looks like my brother has liekly sold his house after being availiable for only 1 week. He and my 5 year old nephew are moving in with me (this was planned). The rent he'll pay is really going to me. So financially, I should be in decent shape overall. I expect my charge card to take a bit of a hit but my balance is under $200 right now.

Other co-workers hit by this are worse off than me so in the grand scheme of things, for now, I'm doing okay.

Monday things

pimping some of my art work:

So I wake up this Monday morning to the sound of my cat puking. I get up all pissed off growling 'okay, where'd you puke this time?'

And then I stepped right in it as the words were coming out of my mouth. On the good side, it was some watery bile about the size of a quarter. On the bad side, I was barefoot.

I've got a scant lead of 6 points in my current fantasy football game going into Monday Night Football. My opponent and I each have 1 player playing tonight. It's possible I could lose but I certainly hope not. If I win, I'll be 6-3. Sounds much better than 5-4.

Bought some rugs yesterday for my bedroom. The old carpetting of my brother's just has too many stains and smells nasty. Of course, he rallied that I should just clean it.

The brother selling his house already has an interested party. That brother's fairly hopefully it'll sell that quick. It's gonna be PACKED in my house if he sells it that quick. The brother I bought the house from still has a chunk of crap here!

Fairly benign weekend. Getting the rugs was cool. Getting stomped in Heroclix was not.

Only a three day work week for me this week. The company is still doing the one day lay-off stuff. I also have Veteran's Day off also. I'm hoping that Thursday and Friday I can make really good progress on the bedroom for getting the old carpetting out and the new in.

Later!
