Oh, joy.

For whatever reason, the time clock at my company didn't register my swipe or another guy's swipe. So far, it sounds like the union is not going to file a grievence on our behalf. Things are still up in the air at the moment but things go badly it could cost me $200 to $300 takehome. All of this because of more company fuck up's.

The things in my favor for getting paid is that I was acknowledged by the supervisor on duty that day and spoke with the area manager herself who didn't know our meeting had been cancelled. The other was seen about too. I also punched out the same time as 4 other guys and spoke openly about punching out to make sure I was registered as there. A third guy purposely did not punch out in hopes of getting paid for 12 hours instead of 4.

More weird dreams today despite decent sleep. I did wake up a couple of times fighting tje urge to piss. One dream had me meeting a blog poster off my friend's blog. This other blog poster ripped into me for posting a somewhat mocking response to her serious post. She further claimed that our mutual blogger friend only befriended me to get a chance to meet a comic creator through me that I know. In reality, we both know this same creator and she met him some time before I ever did. I returned some words with this girl saying she needed to grow up and become a real person that doesn't hide behind a computer screen locked away in her bedroom.

In reality, I have nothing against this fellow blog poster. Strangely, it's the second dream recently where shit has come up between me and somebody I have no ill-will towards.

The other dream had me walking around this area that seemed like air base housing mixed with businesses and a base made out of brick buildings. A lot of co-workers showed up there. Some people were working the air base that seemed to be sort of a R&D and repair base as opposed to a real airbase that had jets and such. This place had a buch of old style planes mostly WW II stuff. One even crashed near it. It was a mild crash where the 2 pilots walked away. The plane was a WW II torpedo dropper that was found on aircraft carriers.

I was inking comics while there too! I guess that was part of the reason I was there. A coworker took me for a ride in an A-1 Abrahams tank! Sweet! It had some sort of infrared monitor and that was the way it drove. The were a lot more details and happenings like I was searching for my brother Mike but there are too many to list. I have to leave for work very soon. :(

And I expect a lot of trouble trying to get paid for Monday and to make my Sunday double time.

:(

On sleep and dreaming...

I generally hold a mundane view of dreaming - that it's mostly a biochemical technique to consolidate short term memory and 'wire in' neural pathways. However, I also think that both the brain and reality are probably weirder than we realise, they may well interact at the quantum level (probably) in ways that are fundamental and quite alien to what is currently accepted science.

One thing I recommend is lucid dreaming. This is just learning to have some control over your dreams and is quite easy. Some of the links below explain well how you can train yourself to lucid dream.

If you have any difficulty getting to sleep or waking during the night I've very occasionally used melatonin and valerian and they both work for me. During winter, in particular, I seem to tend towards a 26 hour day which can be inconvenient. Both these non-prescription drugs help me resynch my sleep patterns and are probably as effective, safer and with less side effects than pharmaceutical sleeping tablets (which I've never taken).

You're just weird. Weird, weird, weird. And you know it.

Hey, I actually got a chance to relax last night and watch a movie. That doesn't happen often, but I was determined to catch "The 40 Year Old Virgin" on HBO, and I did!

It was pretty funny, although it was also incredibly sweet (ack!).

It made me laugh and I slept SO well after that. Oh, despite having the weird dream about black widows and my lesbian pals.

Yes, of course I blogged about it.

Ok, I REALLY need a shower now!
